• Aparna Ashok. Aparna is a PhD Student in the Lab, based at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. Her expertise is in law and socio-legal studies.

• Dr Mark Bennett. Mark is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Liverpool, and was previously a postdoc in the Lab. His expertise is in public law and social security law. 

• Dr Magda Furgalska. Magda is a Senior Lecturer in Law at York Law School, University of York. She works across several lab projects, and her expertise is in socio-legal, healthcare, and mental health research.

• Maite Gambardella. Maite is a PhD Candidate and Research Assistant in the Lab. She is based at King’s College London. Her expertise is in law and socio-legal studies.

• Dr Sam Guy. Sam is a Lecturer in Law at York Law School, University of York. He completed his PhD in law and works across several areas of Lab research. His background is in administrative law and socio-legal studies.

• Eleana Kasoulide. Eleana is a Research Associate in the Lab, based at York Law School, University of York. Her background is in law and socio-legal studies, with a particular interest in digitalisation.

• Dr Eppie Leishman. Eppie is a Research Associate in the Lab, based at York Law School, University of York. Her expertise is in social care research.

• Alexandra Mandich. Alex is the Lab’s Project Manager, and is based in the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London.

• Dr Simona Manni. Simona is a Research Associate in the Lab, based in Health Science at the University of York. Her expertise is in participatory methods and mental health.

• Izzie Salter. Izzie is a PhD student in the Lab, based at York Law School, University of York. Her expertise is in social security law, debt, and socio-legal methods.

• Li Min Ong. Li Min is a PhD student at the University of Strathclyde, and is also affiliated with the Lab. Her expertise is in law and socio-legal methods.

• Dr Aaron Payne. Aaron is a Research Associate based at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and also within the Lab. His expertise is in public and normative economics.

• Dr Aisling Ryan. Aisling is a Research Fellow in the Lab, based at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. Her expertise is in administrative law and socio-legal studies.

• Grace Yeo. Grace is a JD student at Notre Dame Law School and is working as a Research Assistant in the Lab as a London Legal Scholar.

• Professor Aleksandra Cichocka. Aleks is Professor of Political Psychology at the University of Kent.

• Professor Lina Gega. Lina is Professor of Mental Health at the University of York.

• Professor Todd Hartman. Todd is Professor of Quantitative Social Science at the University of Manchester.

• Dr Annie Irvine. Annie is Lecturer in Social Policy and Management at the University of York.

• Dr Susannah Paul. Susannah is a Lecturer in Administrative Law at the University of Glasgow.

• Dr Ben Seyd. Ben is Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Kent.

Many outstanding researchers have passed through the Lab in its short history, and we maintain a list here to recognise them and to demonstrate our commitment to developing the next generation of researchers and lawyers interested in building a better bureaucracy.

• Cassandra Somers-Joce. Cassie was a research assistant in the Lab across several projects. After the Lab, she pursued a career at the Bar.

• Naoise Coakley. Naosie was a graduate research student and research assistant in the Lab, working across several projects. After the Lab, she moved to work in industry.

• Professor Simon Halliday. Before retirement, Simon was Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Strathclyde. He was a founding member of the Lab and a co-director for several years.

• Dr Angela Paul. Angela was a Research Associate in the Lab, working on research at the intersection of vulnerability and administrative process. After the Lab, she took up a long-term postdoctoral fellowship at Northumbria University, focusing on AI.

• Iva Stojanović. Iva was a Research Assistant in the Lab, working across several projects. After the Lab, she went to Harvard University to pursue a PhD in sociology.
